Commenting open
Because some people are still having trouble registering to comment, and because our tech guy is on vacation, I'm going to open up the comments for the next few days, so everyone can speak their mind about the end of the season and some of these interviews. You will have to provide a valid e-mail address to comment. I think those who have already registered can tell you that nothing malicious will happen. As always, please keep it civilized. Thanks.

Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at

Okay, I'll go first...
very good season, disappointing to miss the playoffs again, but we made so many strides that it's hard not to be very optimistic about the direction of this franchise. This team will be dangerous within two seasons. I cannot wait for October.
Rich, you are indeed the man. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication. We, the fans, can't thank you enough for how close you bring us to the team, especially for me being 3,000 miles away.
Here's to the 09-10 season and beyond.
This year the Kings have shown so much progress that it's really hard to think of anything negative to say.
I see nothing but a very bright future ahead.
