i know yr probably already on the following questions, but:

any further update on frolov's status?

also, any further updates on stoll and quicney?

thanks as always...!

lol HA! Williams and Zues on the top line again!

This is what kills me

Kopi, Fro, and Sully=points
Kopi, Sully and Brown=points

Kopi, Brown, (insert rookie) and/or Calder=no points
Kopi, WIlliams, Zues=no points

So whats the logic here...Murray puts together crappy lines. He's favouritism of former Flyers and Sharks, is COSTING Kopi points and this team games. Why does Murray change what works? Frolov was working, and Sully was working and he gave those guys little time on the top line. Yet Calder and rookies never worked and Williams and Zues never work, and he keeps persisting for them to work...why? because of his favoritism towards those goofs.

Murray cost us another game and another season, Kings need a full season with a coach that has their head screwed on right, in order to progress. If Murray is the coach again next season it is going to get worse and another season well wasted in the bottom 5 of the league and we will all be cheering on for a top pick, happily and blindly to this mess. With Murray as coach we will NEVER touch the cup. Hence, he is no longer in Philly, he got fired there because players didn't get along with him...hmmmm I wonder why.

They guy keeps on shoving the square block into the circle cutout...not gonna work buddy! I know square is ur favourite shape...but its not gonna work

You know what bugs me? We have a 3rd pairing d-man with a 2.9 cap hit. Not only are we paying him too much, he's an average defender.

WWAMD: what possible enjoyment do you get out of this team, seriously? If I got as angry/frustrated as you did, I'd start rooting for another team, or another sport. It's just a game.

At this point in the season, does it really matter who's on what line? I say tinker away, the more games we lose the better draft pick we get.

Does WWAMD = Anthony?????

PaulCat1969 Author Profile Page said:

I get so much enjoyment from his posts though. He clearly knows more about hockey than Dean and TM combined and as the soon to be named Commissioner of the NHL we should really listen to everything he has to say.

As I have said before, I just hope someone is keeping a record of all these posts. These are going to be great to look back on a year from now.

hello? we're trying to fall into the bottom 5 for a lottery pick. we need to make sure we lose these games in regulation for that to happen. today's lines don't matter. i imagine if we were in the playoff hunt, quincey's surgery would have waited. frolov might have played through the pain. let the kids play and show what they can do.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, by "getting it" means your getting fooled. How has this team convinced its fans its ok to loose, because we are getting a higher pick. Higher pick hasn't worked out the last 2 years, this year won't be any different.

PaulCat, lets do some short term reflection
Here goes, the top line, as long as it has williams zues and kopi in it will not score 2nite or any other nite this season as long as those 3 are in tact!
-Kings will get SHUT OUT 2nite....unless there is a goal from Boyle, Purcy or Jack! The rest of the team is under Murray's arm and does not need to perform, they get the okay from Murray, the workhorses prove game in and game out why they are the better players!
So we'll meet again here after the game? and discuss!!

Fire TM?

With this cast of characters that management gave him. We're suiting 7 rookies in tonight's game and suited a lot of rookies throughout the season. TM's done a good job getting performance out of this team and the rookies, who have overachieved most of the season.

KINGS 2009 DRAFT

Currently, pick will be 4th-7th…

Evander Kane, C, Vancouver (WHL)
Matt Duchene, C, Brampton, (OHL)
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, F, Timra (Sweden)

Brayden Schenn, C, Brandon (WHL)

...or, if we win the lottery, we get a shot at Taveras.

Now, do we want to beat Phoenix tonight, or not?

Oh, and WWAnthonyMD:

The Kings may very well be shut out tonight, against the Cuban-American rookie Al Montoya. Goalie's HOT!

Doesn't TM understand wordplay??

O'd with Johnson = OJ which = ENERGY (Vitamin C you know)

Greene With Goat. Goats eat grass which is GREEN. Goat gets paid TOO MUCH GREEN. And they both start with G. DUH!

Drew Doughty with Davis Drewiske = DOUBLE D'S = F-U-N TO WATCH!! (a pair on the ice or off..)

Damn..I sound like Anthony..

BAKO...

lololol....thanks for the call to duty....!

you are absolutely correct about the draft prospects you have stated...

i really like magnus paajarvi-svensson...(for now on, he is known as m.p.s.)...

if i were d.l., i would strongly consider him if he's still available come our pick...

m.p.s. has been overshadowed by his teammate, victor hedman....m.p.s. is being compared to a young forsberg (sans injuries, let's hope)...he drives to the net and is exactly the type of skilled/impact prospect we need...he's 6'1" and about 200lbs. and only getting bigger...

for team sweden at the world junior championships these were his stats:

gms g a pts +/- pms
6 2 5 7 +6 6

if you goggle him, you can see the type of talent he's already exhibiting....

i think he has to be strongly considered for our first pick...

as for the t.m. comments...

i sort of agree about his line combos and...as you probably already know...have stated in the past about why i second guess his decisions in that dept....

but...overall...and all things considered...t.m. has done a pretty good job in handling this team...
the handling of frolov and the constant juggling are the things i would like to see changed...

we are a much better defensive team this year and special teams have greatly improved, as well...
i think it was you, bako, that made a great point about the 5-5 play and its deficiencies...

a new system and t.m.'s combo changing have affected any type of cohesion/consistency in that area...

bako, who do you think is our best bet for a first round pic...?

Was just looking at this on line....I never knew we drafted kaberle?

1999 Kings draft

Los Angeles Kings
2. Andrei Shefer, w, Cherepovets (Rußland)
3. Jason Crain, d, Ohio State (CCHA)

3. (von Chicago) Frantisek Kaberle, d, MoDo (Schweden)

3. (von Toronto) Cory Campbell, g, Belleville (OHL)
4. Brian McGrattan, rw, Sudbury (OHL)
4. (von New Jersey/NY Islanders) Daniel Johansson, c, MoDo (Schweden)
5. Jean-Francois Nogues, g, Victoriaville (QMJHL)
7. Kevin Baker, rw, Belleville (OHL)
8. George Parros, rw, Chicago (NAHL)
9. Noah Clarke, lw, Des Moines (USHL)

4thlinechecker Author Profile Page said:

Nevermind.... I mixed up Kaberle from carolina with Kaberle from Toronto

Variable--

I like Duchene... speed, speed, speed!

That was my point about tonight's game... the lower the Kings sink, the better the choices (assuming Hedman and Tavares are gone).

It is not impossible to pick fourth, third would be unlikely, with the coyotes kicking butt here in the third, they could sweep this home and home.

...The sad part about this is that the Kings could just stop winning altogether and give away all the psychological gains of this year.

I'm all for the best pick. But I hate the feeling of humiliation settling in...

KingsQueen949 Author Profile Page said:

Pathetic. Hand each guy a Mai Tai as they skate off the ice and send them on their way. They are already mentally on vacation. Kopitar, Brown and O'Donnell....Tonight I toast a big F.U. to you!!!

the worst part...

WWAMD--you were right.

:(

The Kings simply do not have the skill level to compete in the NHL.

Absolutely patehtic and anemic effort. Expecting a cleaning of house before the deadline. I always figured Brown was untouchable, but boy o boy he looks horrable.

TM..whats up???, putting Calder on the first line and make poor ol moller skate with Zeiler on the 4th line. Dude plug it in!!!!! Moller needs to be on the first or second line and Calder no higher than the 3rd. The line choices are absolutely mind boggling!!! Is there any ryme or reason???

WWAMD Author Profile Page said:

I don't know Bako,

Kings have a few holes..Calder, Gauthier, Williams, Pressing. If we get rid of these contracts and fill them with a couple respectable Free Agents, and replace the coach, your looking at a sweet playoff team.

we do have a lot of bright spots...Do I think Kings have the skill level? OH YEAH!

But you need a coach to utilize it properly. I gave Murray the benefit of the doubt at the beginning of the season with a NEW system. Well this NEW system sacrificed goals. But it was cool, it was a learning process. Then Murray let up on the system in order to get goals and at this point the team was ON FIRE! Then Murray started to play head games with Sully, Fro and Jack...and this team collapsed. The mood Murray sets in the locker room is NOT healthy for this team. If you want someone to blame on this team he is the man to blame. IMO

PaulCat1969 Author Profile Page said:

WWAMD,

I must say this may have been your most competent post yet. I think your analysis is fair with the exception of a couple of glaring thoughts.

First, really try to keep in mind that this is an extremely young team. It was to be expected that this team was going to go through some ups and downs and had it not been for those first 31 games with Labarbara on this team things might have been very different.

Second, TM's system of playing defense first is crucial to any successful team in any sport. Throwing it all at a young team and having them thrive for as long as they did is really amazing. Think of an NHL system as a good ACL tear. Like Handzus's injury it takes a good year to get it up to speed so I really think next year it will be significantly better.

Third, the schedule for this team was brutal yes we had all those home games early but when you are young, inexperienced and playing with a crappy goalie the recipe for winning is not very good. When we finally got our goaltending established there was so many away games it was just going to be hard to compete especially when you consider how tired these kids must be. I honestly don't know how Doughty does it on some nights.

I can admit that I don't agree with everything TM does. Hell, I have disagreed with many of the managers/coaches of L.A. sports teams but I like what he has done to just change the climate and relationship with his players. The players hated Crawford last year and have responded well to Murray.

Let's give this a year to see how adding a sniper or two, a better more balanced schedule and most importantly some added experience does for this team.

number 6 Author Profile Page said:

Paul Cat69 just wanted to say that you made some very good points here regarding the schedule and also the very necessary integration of a defensive system. No question at all. I've stated in numerous other comments that while they should be better next year there are also the other teams in the NHL that are improving and not gonna be pushovers. Also good point regarding the schedule and how they were not prepared to take advantage of the home games early on, but they haven't exactly burned it up at home even when they were playing their best hockey.

I like (generally) DL's approach but still find the JW trade very troubling and will be surprised if he comes back to being a 30 goal scorer. I don't want to write him off, but he was scoring 30 goals in a very different system and before having not one but two serious injuries. Can he come back from that? Well, I'm not a fortune teller so I don't know, but I do know that it's a trade I definitely would not have ever made. It's too risky and I don't think that's a healthy way to work with a team that can be as fragile as the Kings. I also am bothered by the fact that Joe Corvo was let go and he's turned into a first class defenseman. Did DT leave DL a mess to clean up? Yes. But in SJ when DL was there they improved points wise every year for I believe six years. Maybe that will happen here too, but boy do they have work to do.

WW - You are a breath of fresh air.

I agree and have been posting it for about a year, almost.
The expectations have been lowered to rock bottom.
I can only reiterate that this is a league built for parity and that finishing in the bottom 5 3 years in a row is a commitment to horribleness.

I'm willing to let DL bury himself for another year, but the guy keeps trading away all our talent.
I am SO over Terry Murray I can't really bother to talk about it anymore.

I respect every and any player in the NHL, but becoming a coach or a manager takes no guts and very little "achievement."
I'd hate to lose Frolov and Johnson now that TM has turned on them, too.
I don't understand why DL seems to have no confidence in himself.
It seems he's far too impressionable and that isn't a big "manager" credential.

Retain Lomba as a scout, but get Murray the heck out of here.
All one need to do is look at when the Kings were playing their best, most consistent hockey -- beginning of the season before TM's "system" (of failure) took hold.

I think it's clear from some of the comments that he's not appreciated by our GOOD players.
Get him OUT!

Larionov for Kings coach!!! (if not Larri, then Nemchinov)
