Memorial Cup update
It's quite a battle at the Memorial Cup. The Kelowna Rockets have advanced to Sunday's championship game, but who they will play is still very much up in the air. The Windsor Spitfires, with Kings prospect Andrei Loktionov, have played themselves into a ``tiebreaker'' game against the loser of today's Rimouski-Drummondville game. The winner of that tiebreaker game will advance to the Friday's semifinals to face the Rimouski-Drummondville winner, and the winner of the semifinal game will face Kelowna in the final.
So far, Loktionov has two goals in three games. They were both scored in a 5-4 round-robin loss to Rimouski on Sunday.

It's been fun to watch these games. I really like how Loktionov looks. I think he is at least an AHL caliber player already.
For those who don't know, the NHL Network is televising all the Memorial Cup games.
I second that. Really, really great games. There was a 5-on-3 in last night's game where Loktionov was dishing the puck off right and left and this kid on Kelowna -- Cody Almond -- literally blocked four or five shots (on a 5-on-3!) including one off his head and one into his stomach as he lay down in front of a one-timer. Best single-handed kill I've ever seen.
Although Kelowna will win the Mem. cup much like the Spokane Chiefs last year, they definitely awoke the sleeping giant that is Windsor. They are the type of team that just needs a slight push, and they got that last night.
Windsor has started slow and finished big in every round of the 2009 OHL playoffs. What's nice is, no matter what happens, they have to beat the two teams they lost to, en route to playing Kelowna in the finals, if they get that far. Win and continue, lose and you're out.
Great game going on right now....... I am sure the spits are excited. I believe they play the loser of this game tomorrow?
You're correct 4thline. Windsor plays the loser of last night's game, which was Rimouski.
Yes, tonight they play last night's loser. If they win, they play last night's winner. If they win that game, they play Kelowna again in the finals.
Huge comeback by the Spits last night. Down 4-2 going into the 3rd period, they came back to win 6-4. Tonight they'll take on Drummondville for a chance to play in the final against Kelowna.
With three assists by Loktionov in the third period. And he hasn't even played a good game yet in the tournament.
