Deadmarsh entering coaching
The Denver Post reported today that former Kings forward Adam Deadmarsh has been named video/development coach of the Colorado Avalanche. Deadmarsh, of course, was also a member of the Avalanche before he got traded to the Kings in 2001.
"My family and I are excited to come back to Denver," Deadmarsh said in a team press release. "Hockey has always been my life, and it's great to begin my coaching career with the franchise I won a Stanley Cup with."
The Avalanche also named former NHLer Steve Konowalchuk as an assistant to new coach Joe Sacco.

Good luck to both guys. Unfortunately, I think they're going to need a lot of it next season.
great to see deader back in the game...i really miss him as a player...he really was one of my favorite players of all-time...he might have not been the greatest, etc...but, boy, he gave nothing less than 100% on the ice all the time and was a true winner, displaying a knack for clutch goals and gritty performances...i always think "what couldda' been" with deader if his career wasn't prematurely ended by the concussions...
i won't root for the avs...but i will always cheer on adam...i wish him the best of luck...!
How's this for a possible trade:
Jamie Kompon for Adam Deadmarsh.
If DL could get this straight up, it would be a sign of great ability. But I can understand having to throw in either Frolov, JJ, or the 5th rounder.
And our team is still stuck with Jaime Kampon. This guy is probably the worst asst. coach in the entire NHL. No wonder our offense sucked last season.
Damn, tripped over the punchline.

And what brilliant insider knowledge exactly do you base that opinion on? I cant wait till JW out scores POS next season and you leave this blog for good. That will almost be as good as winning the cup
Rob,
Remember, must score more goals - not points.
Joe Sacco is a head coach now?! Didn't he used to play for the duckies?
I was at that great playoff game against the wings when Stumpel started a late comeback and Deadmarsh won it early in overtime, what an amazing night, I thought the roof was going to blow off the building!
The blogs "voice of idiocy" strikes again, thanks very little Anthonyy.../

I say he does both
Rich, are you covering the Kings' Breakfast with the GM tomorrow?
Hey Anthonyy,
Gotta give your mea culpa in 1000 words or more before ya go.
:)
...and that's based on POINTS, not goals!
A gentleman never lets down his fans
Ciccarelli...yes.
To: Anthonyy
Who in the NHL, past or present, do you think is a better GM then Lombardi? Do you have a GM that you feel makes the right moves all the time? I am hoping you do not list 29 other names as this is a serious question. Who do like? Who do you wish was at the helm of the Kings?
I am not trying to bash you or get into a bet where you have to leave or anything but you always comment on how bad all of Lombardi's moves are. I have always been curious if you are just pulling every ones chain troll style or what. I apologize if this has been answered already in another thread. I tried searching...
I certainly have GM's that I think are the top of the league and the best at what they do. He is in Toronto now stealing Anaheim's goalie coaches :-).
Kompon sucks.
Since when does anyone like him?
Just because anthony said it doesn't make it wrong.
Some of your reactions to anthony are more out to lunch than his comments can be.
Heres one.
Buffalo: Ersberg, 5th overall or 39th pick is it? B.Boyle
LA: T.Vanek :)
I can imagine Florida has just finished their last game on the 09-10 season. JW is tied with POS in G and Pts going into the last Kings game of the year at Staples. From the drop of the puck, a chant comes up from the fans, "Justin, Justin", and on the power play you hear, "double shift Williams". I can picture TM looking around and saying, "What the heck is going on?"
Sorry Anthonyy, but it would be funny. I am sure you will leave as "Anthonyy", but come back as "DLsux". You are an attorney, right?
Yea sure JDM, your "Kompon sucks" effort isn't particularly profound...
iansez, about as profound as "The blogs "voice of idiocy" strikes again, thanks very little Anthonyy.../"
Is being profound a requirement?
If you'd like me to elaborate, I think Kompon doesn't have a great idea how to best utilize our best players. I think Kopitar's placement on the PP is poor. The PP in general is very simple and boring. I saw little to no creativity, and we have some very creative players (Kopi, Frolov, Doughty). If I'm not mistaken, Kompon makes the PP lines as well, so I put Calder's ample PP time on Kompon's shoulders.
The players do not seem to be encouraged to move around with or without the puck on the PP. Everyone is far to stationary. They are myopically focused on blue-line shots, yet all seem hesitant to attempt a one-timer. The lack of any real attempt to find seems for cross-ice passes is dissapointing as well. They do go high to low often, but even then, it is really only Frolov who goes from the goal line to the point. Kopi spends too much time near the boards near the hash marks, so when he goes to the point, the defenseman aren't really having to turn around, which defeats the purpose of running low to high plays.
I could blame this all on the players, but it seemed clear to me they were just running the plays they were taught in practice.
I know people will point to the Kings PP % being improved from the season before. Fine, it should be, considering our special teams the season before were absolutely dismal.
Without Stoll's shot or Quincey's ability to get pucks through to the net, I would venture to guess that our PP would be much worse than it was. Those are good things to have, but there needs to be some more creativity. If we didn't score on the first or second PP of a game, we had no chance. It was FAR too easy for team's to adjust to our bland offensive system.
Kompon is the coach in charge of the offense and the PP, so far as I'm concerned, he is the one to blame, and I think there are better options out there. If I was more familiar with the Asst. Coaches around the league, I could more readily suggest a replacement. However I don't need to know how many shades of blue there are to know I don't care for green.
A thought just occurred to me.
Instead of snubbing Mark Morris for the coaching job in favor of Murray, does anyone think it would have been better to promote Morris to Kings offensive coach and give Kompon the head coaching job in Manchester?
Wasn't Kompon previously in charge of prospect camp and development? Seems like coaching the 'Narchs would have been the better choice and more logical progression for Kompon.
Just speculating.
And thanks anthony :). You should know though that I'm on the JW side of the POS vs. JW bet. I think you're going to lose that bet, and while if and when you do, a concession will be in order, I don't think you should stop posting here just because of O'Sullivan. Remember, we root for the name on the front, not the name on the back.
JDM, I just think that "Whoever sucks" is a bit thin when making the point that others posts are "out to lunch". But you've bought an opinion now and that's awesome! That's what this blog should be about, not pissing matches or emotional over-reactions!
Anthonyy just bums me out, he doesn't try hard enough (at all?) to substantiate his opinions and I'm tired of hearing about the "Philly connection", how bad DL is and what a disaster acquiring JW at the expense of dear little POS will certainly be, etc etc. And what the heck does >>>>>>> mean? What does it contribute??
I agree about pissing matches, which was the point I was trying to make.
"What does it contribute??"
You have to admit, it contributes hits and about a 10 to 1 ratio in responses. ;)
There shouldn't be anything wrong with just saying "so and so sucks." So long as 'so and so' is part of the Kings, and not a member of the blog.
Sure an elaboration is nice, and it certainly drives long debates between us all, which is indeed one of the things that is so great about this blog. But I think it's silly to begrudge someone their opinion because they either don't want to or don't have the time to post the extended novellas many of us are accustomed to writing here.
We have to remember, there is always one things we can all come to terms on...
GO KINGS GO!
....lets get on with the draft talk already!!!!!
Forget Tavares...move up and take Matty D, the best player in the draft!
Helan går....sjodehopfadderallanrallanlej, Helan går...sjodehoppfaderallanlej!!!!
Just a Swedish schnaps song.....you know, we have to sing a song when we drink our schnaps :-)
MacSwede,
Hopefully in about half an hour I'll be sing a tune of my own. Cheers to you my friend.
I really hope sjodehopfadderallanrallanlej isn't a singular word, if so, no wonder you drink:)
Congrats Deader! One of my all-time favorite Kings. Tenacious! Gritty! Clutch! I hope he gets sick of Denver and comes back out to L.A. I'm sure we'd all love to have him back in some capacity.
Fair enough JDM. And I don't begrudge Anthonyy having an opinion at all but he should really make an effort to back it up with SOMETHING or at least respond to SOME of the many questions directed at him now and then. Unless he doesn't care to have an ounce of credibility. He has the time to respond, he hovers on this site and quite often makes the first post.
But whatever, once again it's become about him instead of the Kings. I think i'll write a Chinese style self-criticism about my failure to ignore him and just stay away for a while...;)
Lots of ex-Kings involved in this lawsuit, pretty funny read too.

Congrats to him I loved that guy....He was so nice when I talk to him.
Rich or Anyone?
Is DL allowed to start talking to GM's now about the draft and trades? Like IE what they are willing to give for a #5 pick. And if he is has he had many conversations about this. Becase everywhere I look Hockey News ect. They think we will trad that pick. Your Thoughts?????
