This is absurd. 8 preseason games and only 2 at home? How is that fair? Why are the Kings accepting these silly schedules?

Does anyone know when Training camp (not rookie camp) generally starts? I love going down to El Segundo and watching the guys Scrimmage.

  • Eric W

KC and FF are considered home games, I beleive.

  • Jeff

Paul, AEG wants one game in KC, and the fans want one game in Las Vegas.

  • ianmonsta

Not to mention the game in Ontario where the Reign play, i would imagine that counts as a home game.

  • nykingfan

I wonder if the NHL Network will show any of those games?

  • Cynic

Any chance (Right….) of giving a word to someone Rich at FOX or The Kings Communications office of televising at least ONE of these? I know, hell may freeze over first, but It would be a nice change. Maybe the NHL Network could do one of them, especially the one in KC?
    Thanks-

At TSC now, just watched the newly drafted FWD’s skate. Schenn definatley stickhandles better then all of them…. Clifford looks decent as well. funny to see lombardi staring at all his young lil ducklings

I highly recommend going to Citizens Bank Arena. I think it seats around 9,000 for hockey, and there is not a bad seat in the house. Trust me, and bring a jacket…

The Kings really aren’t ‘accepting’ this schedule. They have a very active hand in developing it.

I realize 2 of the games are “considered” to be home games. They’re not. They’re in other cities. It’s stupid. Let AEG find other ways to put events on in their arenas instead of turning the Kings into a traveling vagabond circus act.

Rich any idea when the season schedule comes out? Southwest is having a sale until tonite and want to pick up some cheap Den-LAX tix for opening nite.

If you have a date just for the opening nite, lets hear it! : )

4th Line Checker, come up with a better word than duckling. Geez. His little princes, his new investments, his new projects, but sucklings??? come on….

    Paul,

I appreciate your sentiments but this is preseason. Staples Center is a whole lot of seats for games that do not count.

You must be new to the game. This is the way preseason games have scheduled been for YEARS, and not only by the Kings. And as a season seat holder, I would much rather have to pay full price for only two preseason games.

In 1991 (I think) I was in St Petersburg FL and saw a preseason game at the Sunkist dome between the Rangers and Washington… well almost. They were unable to get the temp ice to freeze and the game was cancelled. The league was able to prove that there was enough interest in the game to allow expansion to the Lightning.

I also attended a preseason game in San Diego between the Kings and the USA Olympic team around 1983 or so.

I am with Golfnut, the home opener is a pastime, so the sooner I know, the cheaper it is to get there… From what i hear, the schedule will be released next week (usually the day after the MLB All-Star game).

Wow I thought I’d already seen everything there was for some people on here to complain about…now someone is complaining about the PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE?? Wow….

  • 4thlinechecker

HA! You are probably right Dave……..ducklings was probably a bad choice. Dean was definitely attentive… He looked proud… They were basic drills, and all young prospects, but Schenn was definitely the most noticeable on the ice….. I thought one of the goalies was Berube, but the goalies out there were just local kids. I guess the D-men and goalies skated earlier.

You guys are completely misunderstanding why I have a problem with the preseason schedule. How is Terry Murray supposed to get this team ready for an 82 game season if 80% of the preseason is spent in hotels and on planes and busses? During the preseason teams need to have an equal amount of time at home as they do on the road. That’s why these stupid games in Europe are hurting teams. They’re spending so much time and energy traveling that they aren’t getting enough time to prepare for the season. And I’m sure if you could get Terry Murray, or any NHL coach to answer the question of too much travel in the preseason, they’d all agree that there is. And this is for a west coast team that already travels more then any east coast team during the season. If you ask me, the Kings should never leave California during the preseason. At worst a game in Phoenix or Vegas. But KC? Please.

And John, I’m not new to hockey. I’ve probably been watching longer then you’ve been alive. I was at Isles games when they won their 4 cups. I’ve seen Howe play. So just because you don’t understand the point I’m trying to make doesn’t mean I’m new to hockey.
