Contract update
The Kings will most likely announce a new contract for Teddy Purcell soon. The fact that today is Friday could complicate the final stages of contract approval, etc. Talks with Jack Johnson's agent have also been going well but seem to be headed toward a short-term deal, which would be interesting. I'm not sure if either of those will get finalized today.

So I guess that means there won't be an announcement on a 2 year deal for Jack Johnson today? Shocked! :D
I hope the Alexander Frolov contract negotiations get put on the "front burner" soon. Would like to see an extension signed so the Kings best winger's name can put in permanent marker in the lineup instead of "penciled in."
But CBGB said Johnson already signed a 2 year deal?!
Luc confirmed it Weds night as well. 2 year deal for Johnson
I'm not surprised that JJ's deal would be short term.
It makes sense for both parties.
With the uncertainty over the CBA in the coming years, nobody knows what the long term landscape will look like.
It's not news until Hammond reports it.
And, someone please remind Luc, "Loose lips sink ships!"
If it is indeed a 2 year deal, that makes great sense for both parties.
Gives Jack a chance to proove himself, first of all. Gives the Kings flexibility if need be.
And, as NYkings fan pointed out, I don't think anyone really realizes that we may have another war coming when this CBA is up.

At 11am, LAKings.com will have an important player-related announcement!
JJ or Ted Purcell?
nykings -- you make an excellent point, but I would have thought JJ would have pressured for a little more security. Pronger and Nash sure seemed to be in a hurry to grab one of the last big pieces of pie. But, I am glad he has signed. I hope he has a healthy year.

YES. DONE DEAL.
GO KINGS!
Good call Ciccarelli. Just announced on lakings.com
JJ signs 2 year deal.
No numbers announced. I wonder what they are. I recall I previously thought it would be around $2.75-3, and you guys (I forget who, really) talked me down to $2.25.
It's been posted on other sites as 2 years for 2.8 total or 1.4 mil/yr cap hit. Excellent signing by the KINGS. I also thought he would sign for what you posted Quisp.
