Kings hire scout

Mark Mullen has been hired by the Kings as a scout, according to a press release issued by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the junior-level United States Hockey League. Mullen, 28, spent last season as an assistant coach in Cedar Rapids. He retired as a player following the 2004-05 ECHL season, after four years at Boston University. It's not immediately clear which position Mullen will occupy, but given his background, it's probably safe to guess that amateur scouting is in his future.

I was wondering maybe the LA Kings could give out email addresses for their players. That way we could just email the particular players our thoughts.

If I am correct, it is illegal for an employer to give out personal contact information of it's employees out to the public or to other employees. That even includes professional atheletes and celebrities. It is part of the right to privacy.

Yeah I'm sure that the Kings Organ-EYE-zation would just love to give the player's e-mail addresses out to the public. With some of the irresponsible, knuckleheaded comments that are posted here could you just imagine the drivel that would be bombarding personal e-mail inboxes?

Maybe Jimmy is just a young kid that has hockey posters up on his wall, etc, and just idolizes hockey players.

Not a horrible idea really-- Maybe the Kings could set up a generic "players" email address on their website and have some front office intern be the go-between for the kids and the players.

As for the older folks that would otherwise want to pepper the players with critical or nasty emails... Those people need to get a life or get a girlfriend and move out of their mom's basement... Or maybe they need a restraining order.

On topic-- I like the fact that the Kings are investing in more scouting. Hopefully it'll payoff in future drafts. Maybe there's another late round Dave Taylor or Luc Robitaille waiting to be discovered.
