Defensive pairs change
After practice today, Terry Murray said that he would go with defensive pairings of Davis Drewiske and Drew Doughty, Jack Johnson and Rob Scuderi, and Matt Greene and Alec Martinez for the first two games, while Sean O'Donnell serves his suspension. Murray said he concluded that he wanted more of a puck-moving defenseman to be paired with a ``defensive'' defenseman in each pair, but said he would evaluate the pairs throughout the week.

I can't wait to see our new young D in action. I have a good feeling about our defense this year. We are deeper than I can remember in a long time!
Wow, Drewiske & Doughty together! That gives new meaning to defense in 4D. Since it's only temporary, I'm not too concerned. I'm sure things will be juggled once SOD returns anyway.
Sweet, just what I was hoping for.
4 more days until opening night! thank god i dont have to work. im guna have to break out the jersey finally!
ah, a Drew-Drew pair! And I like seeing Martinez getting his couple starts with a solid, reliable defensive presence like Greene.
But at practice this morning Doughty was paired with Martinez.
Anyone paired with Doughty has to be ready for some serious ice time. Doughty is the best player, and best defensemen on the Kings, he is going to play upwards of 24 minutes a night.
Whomever his pairing is with, that guy is going to be under a lot of pressure, not to mention that if the guy is right handed, like Martinez is, he will be playing on the wrong side.
Martinez is listed
as a Left-shot;Playing with Greene (a Right-shot)
should be OK.
Drewiske is a Left-shot & should feel comfortable
with Doughty, a right-shot.
Scuderi and JJ are both Left shots though.
(all this is for what it's worth)
On another note, Purcell took a wicked shot to knee yesterday...I'll be curious to see if he's fine or it's something more serious.
Purcell is skating with a smile on his face this morning. Harrold is playing defense. Damn it! ;)
