Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor. E-mail Rich at rich.hammond@dailynews.com.
Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at jill.painter@dailynews.com.

Ding, ding, ding.....IT'S ON!!! They should get Fedor Emelianenko to ref.
this game is going to leave us black and blue in the stands! should be entertaining to say the least...
Heh. Calder...
A little off topic, but have to announce that the first period between the ducks and coyotes just ended...and the ducks were outshot 30-2!
No joke. And they've got Lupul and Ryan playing tonight.
rich...
i think i just saw jack johnson have a cameo in an ea sports nhl '10 commercial...
can you confirm this...?
thanks..
This will be the Kings' first chance at payback for Artyukhin kneeing Doughty along the boards last season while he was playing for the Lightning. Ivanans needs to teach him a lesson.
while being outshot 30-2 in period 1, and being down 3-0 with 10 minutes to play, The Ducks did come back and WIN the game, so... let it be known that there's still a team down the 5 that plays good hockey when the chips are down :)
For anyone that's interest, there's a nice piece on the Kessel trade, with a bit of a Kings perspective, here: http://www.lakingsnews.com/
I agree Bruce. This is the 1st time since the incident..and it's even better that it's an exhibition game. The question is who gets him first and how often they go after him?
I'm betting on Clifford taking him out, but it's really time for Westgarth to do some damage. For a fighter, I don't see him fight too often.
"for a fighter, I don't see him fight too often."
in an interview Westgarth said he 'wants the other team to "worry" every time number 33 is on the ice.'
he's got some big skates to fill, and maybe management had something in mind by giving him #33....remember who wore that number? yes, Marty McSorley, and yes, the other team had to worry every time HE stepped on the ice....the jury is out about the new #33..
I hope they plow Calder into the boards often.
THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE TELEVISED OR AT THE VERY LEAST LIVE STREAMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
