Rookie camp, Day 2
A reminder that today's rookie game will be streamed live at lakings.com/rookie09 at 2 p.m.
Having read through the comments about last night's game, I would agree with those who thought that Andrei Loktionov and Thomas Hickey were the Kings' two standouts, in terms of skill. Colten Teubert and Kyle Clifford showed a lot in terms of their willingness to mix it up, but that type of play made it difficult to make sweeping judgments based on the game. There was so much energy -- even if it wasn't properly directed -- by young players intent upon making a good impression that it was hard for the game to get any type of flow.
Martin Jones allowed six goals, but seemed to be more a victim than the problem. Would those of you who watched the game agree?

Rich or anyone,
Is there a roster from yesterdays game?
I'd like to know who played.
Can't wait 'til the team comes out to VEGAS!

I'm going to today's game. I'll take some photos and when I figure out how to upload them via my cell phone I'll throw them on photobucket and post a link tonight or in the morning.
I don't know Rich. Jones was hung out to dry a few times, but I didn't think many of those were great goals. In fact, a couple were outright bad.
The two that jump out to mind were the goals that were banked off of him at or beneath the goal line. They were both the result of him paying too much attention to his own defenders position and losing sight of the puck and consequently not getting back to the post in time. There should not have been any daylight where a couple of those goals went in. One of the goals that was scored 5-hole on him was pretty bad as well.
The defense definitely hung him out to DRY, but he also didn't do much to inspire the team. Someone has to step up, and the goalie is the last line of defense, so to me, they are always responsible to stop some of those chances, even when the defense lets you down. A goalie has to come up with a big save, and I didn't see one from Jones.
But again, the whole game was poorly played outside of the fighting. I think you are absolutely right that there was never really a flow, and I felt like Teubert kind of set the tone for the Kings with his opening fight antics. Sure, I loved it, but I think he hurt the team right there much more than he helped them, statement or not.
Will the game only be streamed live, or will it be archived?
a bit off topic...
here's more "deaf" comedy for ya'...

yeah right...
d.l...after recently publicly stating rather directly that heatley was not a risk worth taking - much to the delight of the attendees who applauded his sentiments - is now willing to backtrack at the expense of stoll & fro...???
i just thought this one scenario was one of the more humorous ones of late...
deslauriers was by far the kings best player last night. 2nd was loktionov, then maybe hickey or kozun. but i judge hickey by higher standards... and i was disappointed. voynov looked horrible

variable -- it is especially funny that they believe the St. Louis GM when he says he is staying on plan, but they don't believe DL who basically said the same thing. And, we are two years behind St. Louis with the rebuild.
“To me it doesn’t make any sense,” said Davidson. “For us to acquire a contract of that magnitude and give up two or three pieces that can rebuild a franchise — I don’t think that the Blues should rebuild somebody else’s franchise.”
Worst webcast ever. I got 5 secs of the anthem then it died and will not reconnect.
At least you got some of the stream, I still cannot get it to load...booo!
Stoll, Fro for Marleau?
Don't think I would trade Fro even up for Marleau, not that I have anything against him.
2-0 kings with Schenn scoring both goals, one even strength and one on the power play. Didn't see it but they just announced it while talking to Nelson Emerson.
Goals were both nice. Mullen made the second goal happen with a good defensive play getting it to Kozun who made a good breakout pass to Mikus. The Koosh carried it in and made a slick pass to Schenn who tipped it in at the left goalpost.
Sorry, I meant the first goal. The second was a pass from the boards to the point from Loktionov to someone (I forget) who got it down to Schenn. Berube looks good. Big dude but very quick. Like his style.
Voynov (with a nice shot from the point) and Kozun (with some blistering moves) each put one in during the 2nd.
