Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at

Where are roe and czarnik? Can u do a rundown of the tryouts?
Nice to see #19 go unassigned. Hope it stays that way (cough*goringfox*cough).
Quisp, those boys are in college. If they attend a professional training camp, would that violate the NCAA's rules on being an amateur athlete? Either that, or school has started and they are in classes already. Anyhow, just hypotheses. I don't have a solid reference for those thoughts.
