First period: Kings 1, Blues 0

The Kings came out hitting and skating and didn’t look as if they were hanging their heads after Sunday’s last-second loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Jeff Carter finished a pretty pass from Slava Voynov to give the Kings a 1-0 lead over the Blues. Jonathan Bernier got his first start of the season for the Kings after Jonathan Quck started each of the team’s first 10 games. Brian Elliott started in goal for the Blues.

“Me and Slava took off on a 2-on-1 there,” Carter said during a between-periods interview on FSN. “It’s nice to play with a lead.”

Kyle Clifford nearly made it 2-0, but his point-blank try struck the crossbar late in the period. Clfford continues to be a revelation for the Kings with his aggressive skating.
