The Kings placed defenseman Alec Martinez on injured reserve Wednesday and recalled defenseman Andrew Campbell from Manchester (N.H.) of the American Hockey League to take his roster spot. Martinez suffered an upper-body injury during the Kings’ victory Monday over the St. Louis Blues. Coach Darryl Sutter said Martinez would be sidelined for “at least a week” but said it wouldn’t be long-term injury.
Campbell had one goal and seven assists and had a plus-minus defensive rating of plus 13, tops among Manchester defensemen, in 28 games for the Monarchs. Martinez scored his first goal of the season in the Kings’ loss Sunday to the Detroit Red Wings. He also has one assist and a plus-minus rating of zero in 11 games.
