Keaton Ellerby, a defenseman acquired last week from the Florida Panthers, has some deep family roots in the NHL. Shane Doan of the Phoenix Coyotes is a cousin (his father’s sister’s son). Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens also is a cousin (his father’s cousin is Price’s father). Ellerby revealed that Doan was his favorite NHL player, but he told reporters about it in a subdued tone, fully aware of the Kings-Coyotes rivalry.
