The Kings had a day off Tuesday after returning from their five-game Grammys trip. Then they had two days to practice and prepare for Friday’s Staples Center homecoming against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was time well spent, a rare chance for a few teachable moments in the lockout-shortened 48-game season.
“To be perfectly clear and honest, March is just about zero practice, right?” Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. “We have 17 games, I believe, in March and we get very little practice. So, you have to take advantage of the days. It doesn’t mean it impacts (the game against Columbus), but it certainly impacts the big picture. These young guys, not some of them, most of them, it’s about practice.”
