First period: Blackhawks 2, Kings 0

The defending Stanley Cup champion Kings were no match for the Chicago Blackhawks in the first period Sunday afternoon. The Kings looked very much like a team with a 5-5-2 record and the Blackhawks played exactly like a team with an 11-0-3 mark. Jonathan Quick returned to the Kings’ net after sitting out in favor of Jonathan Bernier for victories over the St. Louis Blues and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Quick had no chance on goals from Chicago’s Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews.
