The Kings’ three-game trip continues with a stop in Edmonton to face the Oilers on Tuesday at 7 p.m. (PST). The Kings (5-6-2) lost to the league-leading Blackhawks in Chicago on Sunday and conclude their trip Wednesday against the Flames in Calgary. The Kings are 14th overall in the Western Conference. The Oilers are 6-5-3 and in 11th place. The Kings’ lack of scoring has hindered them greatly to start the season. They have only 30 goals, fewest in the NHL. Mike Richards and Anze Kopitar lead the Kings with nine points apiece (four goals and five assists). Taylor Hall and Sam Gagner have a team-leading 15 points for the Oilers. Hall has three goals and Gagner has four.
Kings coach Darryl Sutter skipped practice Monday in Edmonton to attend to family matters, according to media reports. The Sutter family has a farm in Viking, Alberta, not far from Edmonton, but it’s unknown if he went there to visit. Sutter is expected back behind the bench for Tuesday’s game against the Oilers.
