Final: Kings 3, Flames 1

The Kings started Wednesday’s game against the Calgary Flames with an aggressive forecheck and finished their three-game trip with a 3-1 victory. Dustin Brown, Trevor Lewis and Jeff Carter scored for the Kings. Rob Scuderi assisted on the goals by Brown and Lewis. T.J. Brodie had the Flames’ goal.

“We grinded it out,” Carter said during a postgame TV interview. “We did what we had to, to win tonight. I’ve been skating and trying to get as many pucks on net as I can. We came out well. Kind of sat back the next 10 minutes, but we got back to it.”

Carter has a team-leading eight goals, including four in the last five games.

The Kings (7-6-2) play 13 of their next 16 games at Staples Center.
