Injured Kings defenseman Alec Martinez goes for another solo skate

Alec Martinez’s upper body injury is “getting better,” he said before going for a skate after his teammates practiced Friday. When he joins them for a full-contact practice is anyone’s guess, however. Martinez and Kings coach Darryl Sutter each said there’s no timetable for the defenseman’s return from the injured reserve list. Martinez was injured in the Kings’ victory Feb. 11 over the St. Louis Blues.

“It’s getting better every day and that’s all you can ask for,” said Martinez, who has been skating on his own since Monday. “I’ve gone through this before, so I kind of know the ropes. It’s just a matter of putting the time in and letting it heal.”

Martinez has been pushing to join his teammates for a practice, according to Sutter.
