Second period: Kings 1, Predators 0

Jeff Carter’s deft flick from point-blank range eluded Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne and gave the Kings a 1-0 lead 5:28 into the second period. Jarret Stoll moved the bouncing puck ahead to Carter, who never managed to get it to settle down, but instead chipped it beneath Rinne’s right leg for a power-play goal. Carter’s goal was his team-leading 12th. The Kings managed only three shots in the period, the same number as in the first. The Kings didn’t have enough sustained pressure to score a second time.
