Looking at NHL re-alignment and what it means to the Kings when it happens

If the current plan is adopted by the NHL’s Board of Governors, then the Kings would say goodbye to the Dallas Stars and welcome the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks back to the Pacific Division. It would mean a little more travel for the Kings than with the Stars in their division, but it would be return to the old days of the Smythe Division (without the Winnipeg Jets, though). The better news would be the shift of the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Detroit Red Wings to the Eastern Conference. The Red Wings have been thorns in the sides of almost everyone in the Western Conference and their move would make it easier to make the playoffs.
