Stanley Cup champion Kings to visit the White House next Tuesday

One of the cooler things about winning a championship is getting the chance to visit with the President of the United States at the White House. It’s the Kings’ turn Tuesday. They got the official invitation Thursday. They will be joined by the Galaxy of the MLS, their AEG brethren in a ceremony at 10:35 a.m. (PDT). Both teams will then participate in a clinic with some kids on the South Lawn of the White House.

Darryl Sutter said last week he wanted to speak to Obama about the Keystone XL pipeline, which the Kings’ coach wants the president to approve. The proposed pipeline is slated to run from the petroleum regions of Sutter’s native Alberta, Canada, to Illinois and the gulf coast region in the U.S. The president and environmentalists have expressed concerns about its impact on the American midwest.
