Darryl Sutter’s postgame comments (blunt as ever Thursday edition)

Darryl Sutter talked about the play of newly-acquired defenseman Robyn Regehr, the hot streak of winger Justin Williams and his goaltending rotation in the wake of Jonathan Bernier’s shutout Thursday night of the Minnesota Wild. Here’s the coach’s analysis:

On Regehr: “He’s a big solid guy. He’s going to play that way. He’s going to finish checks and move pucks and try to play the system. That’s what he does. … I haven’t coached Robyn for eight years (since they were both with the Calgary Flames), so you’d have to ask him if he’s a different player. But in terms of trust, obviously there’s trust. He’s an experienced guy and he’s going to play the same way every night.”

On Williams: “It’s good to see him score because he plays with Kopie (Anze Kopitar) and Brownie (Dustin Brown) and doesn’t get much credit. So, it’s good to see him score.”

On whether Bernier’s play against the Wild forced him to alter his goalie plans for the upcoming games: “No. We’re still in the heavy-lift schedule part of it and we need them both (Bernier and Jonathan Quick). I think it’s shown that when one’s fresh, it doesn’t matter which one it is, they’re both capable guys.”
