Kings coach Darryl Sutter concedes Pacific Division title to the Ducks

Darryl Sutter made a concession speech Saturday afternoon, not long after the Kings’ comprehensive 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Staples Center and a little more than 24 hours before their showdown with the Ducks at the Honda Center.

“We know they’re the division winner,” the Kings’ coach said of the rival Ducks. “I’m not saying that because we’re playing them tomorrow. When you get off to that type of lead, it’s impossible to make it up. We just want to concentrate on us and try to play well.”

For the record, the Ducks are 25-8-5, first in the Pacific Division and second in the Western Conference and the Kings (22-13-3) are second in the division and fourth in the conference. The teams have played twice, with each winning on home ice back in February.
