Darryl Sutter rules injured Kings center Mike Richards out of Game 3

Kings coach Darryl Sutter ruled center Mike Richards out of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals Tuesday night. Richards suffered what the team calls an upper-body injury and what everyone assumes is a concussion when the Chicago Blackhawks’ Dave Bolland cracked him in the head late in Game 1 on Saturday.

“Yes, absolutely,” Sutter said when asked if Richards was sidelined. “He’s done a little bit every day. It’s the same. No progress. If it was just about Mike Richards, if Mike Richards makes the decision, Mike Richards is playing tonight. You’ve got guys who don’t want to play and you’ve got guys who do want to play, Mike Richards wants to play.”

Tyler Toffoli replaced Richards for Game 2 and was expected to continue playing with left wing Dustin Penner and center Jeff Carter for Game 3.
