Anze Kopitar says his knee was fine during playoffs, will ditch brace

Anze Kopitar denied having any lingering issues with the knee he injured while playing in Sweden during the lockout. He said the brace he wore during the regular season and the playoffs was no longer needed after he visited with team medical personnel. He said he had no significant injuries during the playoffs, which dispelled widely-circulated rumors that he was hurting, which was why his production was off. He said: “Just banged up. A few bumps and bruises. That’s about it.”

Of scoring only three goals in 18 playoff games after going 16 games without a goal to end the regular season, Kopitar said, “There’s no secret we need more from me in terms of production.” He went on to say he must be tougher mentally whenever he gets into a goal-scoring drought in the future. “Any kind of a player, you would feel a little down,” he said of his prolonged slump. “I was working hard and the results were not coming.”
