Ron Hextall leaves Kings to become Flyers’ new assistant general manager

Ron Hextall left his position as the Kings’ assistant general manager Monday to become Philadelphia’s new assistant general manager and director of hockey operations, the Flyers announced. Hextall was with the Kings for seven seasons, also serving as the general manager of the Manchester (N.H.) Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

“We are very pleased to welcome back Ron Hextall to our management team,” Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said in a statement. “Ron has a wealth of experience in the front office in various capacities, which will be a valuable addition to our staff.”

Hextall, 49, worked for the Flyers for seven seasons, including four as director of pro hockey personnel. He also was a goaltender for the Flyers during two stints that covered 11 seasons, ranking first in club history in wins with 240 and games with 489.

There’s no immediate word on who will take over Hextall’s duties with the Kings.
