Justin Williams talks about stability and a change in the Kings’ culture

Justin Williams didn’t know what to expect when he joined the Kings in a three-team trade March 4, 2009. The only thing that was for certain was nothing was certain. Matters have changed dramatically for the veteran right wing, and for the Kings, too. Funny what a Stanley Cup championship and several long-term contract extensions for key players will do for an organization. Williams certainly has noticed a change in the club.

“Dean always talks about the culture and how we’ve tried to switch things up here,” Williams said, referring to Kings GM Dean Lombardi. “We’re not satisfied with winning one. We expect to win every game, we expect to win every series. When I got here, there were a lot of different guys on this team, you weren’t sure who was going to step up, who the starting goalie was going to be. Now things are pretty settled. You know what you’re going to get out of your teammates every night. … We have guys who are signed for a long time now. It’s good to have that type of stability.”
