Prospect watch: Brandon Kozun and Jordan Weal

The American Hockey League season is underway, and the Manchester (N.H.) Monarchs’ leading scorers in their first three games are a pair of forwards who impressed during the Kings’ training camp last month in El Segundo.

Right wing Brandon Kozun and center Jordan Weal each had one goal and two assists in three games before the Monarchs faced Bridgeport (Conn.) on Saturday. Kozun and Weal were overshadowed by the trio of Tanner Pearson, Linden Vey and Tyler Toffoli and aren’t likely to gain as much attention this season in Manchester.

But their skills should not be overlooked. Kozun and Weal are talented players in their own rights and simply need to take the step to become NHL players. The trouble is, the Kings have a veteran roster and there are no job openings at the moment. Pearson, Vey and Toffoli found that out when training camp ended and they returned to Manchester.

Keep an eye on all five of these players.
