Goaltender Martin Jones joins some ancient company with his third shutout

Kings rookie goaltender Martin Jones won his sixth consecutive start to begin his NHL career on Tuesday, earning his third shutout with a 3-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Jones is tied with teammate Ben Scrivens for the league lead with three shutouts apiece. He’s also joined some ancient company. Jones is only the third goalie in league history to record three shutouts in his first three starts, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. He joins Flat Walsh of the New York Americans in 1928-29 and Frank Brimsek of the Boston Bruins in 1938-39.
