KISS to play Dodger Stadium game against Ducks on Jan. 25

The official NHL release starts out, “Legendary American rock band KISS will rock the house at Dodger Stadium as part of the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series outdoor game between the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks.” Frankly, I’m disappointed. KISS (or is it Kiss?) doesn’t speak to me the way any of the other bands on this just-off-the-top-of-my-head list of bands with L.A. connections do:

Bad Religion, Black Flag, Cypress Hill, Eagles, Guns N Roses, The Go-Go’s, Los Lobos, Metallica, Minutemen (San Pedro locals), Pennywise (OK, that’s a Ducks band), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Lakers band), Social Distortion (OC locals), Van Halen, Weezer and X.

Frankly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers should have been the pick, although drummer Chad Smith is probably a Red Wings fan since he’s from Michigan. Flea is probably ready for a break from the endless mess that is the Lakers’ season. Can’t believe nobody from the league dropped the fellows a dime.
