War of words enlivens already hot rivalry between Kings and Canucks

Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis wasn’t happy goaltender Roberto Luongo had to sit out Sunday’s loss to the Ducks after he was injured when the Kings’ Dustin Brown bowled him over Saturday. Kings coach Darryl Sutter’s response Monday was profane. He then added, “That’s wonderful they would quote that. Don’t get me gong on it.”

The Kings and Canucks play again Jan. 13 at Staples Center.

The Canucks are the latest team to be upset with Brown, whose knee-to-knee hit injured the San Jose Sharks Tomas Hertl. The rookie forward was lost to the team indefinitely after he needed knee surgery, and the Sharks weren’t happy Brown didn’t reach out to check on the condition of Hertl.
