It’s been a long layoff for the Kings since beating the Phoenix Coyotes in the Western Conference Finals, but in less than seven hours they’ll open the Stanley Cup final against the New Jersey Devils in Newark.
Kings center Jarrett Stoll talked to the media after today’s morning skate, here is some of what he had to say.
Keep coming back we’ll be posting stuff throughout the Final.
We’re just a few hours away from the Stanley Cup Final! You could sense a different feeling today at the Kings morning skate, which just finished up about an hour ago. Here is some footage of their workout:
And keep coming back – I’ll be posting Jarrett Stoll’s chat with reporters in a little bit.
The title of this blog probably is not a big surprise to Kings fans accustomed to Dustin Penner’s dry wit. But for the casual Kings fans out there just sort of jumping on the band wagon (and the Kings are perfectly happy with you jumping on) understand that Penner is one of those guys who just has a great, wry take on things.
Today at media day he explained – among other things – where his wit comes from. Turns out he comes from a family of, how should we say, ego busters. And despite his fame and status he wasn’t just not spared from the……ego busting…..he is actually an easy target for family members who like to bust his chops.
Keep checking in on the site I’ll be posting things throughout the series.
Kings defenseman Willie Mitchell suffered a severe concussion back in 2010 that cost him the remainder of that season. He hopes by talking about concussions it will shed light on a problem the NHL – and other sports – deal with relative to keeping their athletes safe.
Mitchell addressed the issue Tuesday at media day at the Stanley Cup Finals.
Keep coming back I’ll be posting stuff throughout the finals.
Vinny B. in Jersey (actually back in Manhattan now)
The Kings arrived in New Jersey Monday around 4 local time. By noon today they were on the ice at the Prudential Center in Newark for their last full practice before Game 1 Wednesday. Here is some footage of their workout. I’ll be posting interviews from both teams through the course of the day so keep checking back.
