New York Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo, a former King, is eligible to play Wednesday in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final after serving an NHL suspension for making contact with a referee during the Eastern Conference finals last month. He was uncertain whether he would be in the lineup, however.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen for tomorrow,” said Carcillo, who was traded from the Kings to the Rangers on Jan. 4 for a seventh-round draft pick. “Just to be around the guys and be in the room, that’ll be a nice change and a nice feeling. Just going to go from there, don’t really know too much.”

The Kings sent forward Daniel “Car Bomb” Carcillo to the New York Rangers on Saturday for a seventh-round pick in the draft next June. Carcillo wasn’t in the Kings’ plans, playing only 26 games and recording only a goal and an assist to go with 57 penalty minutes. The Kings acquired Carcillo, who turns 29 later this month, from the Chicago Blackhawks last summer for a conditional pick in the 2015 draft. The Rangers will be his fifth NHL team. Carcillo has only 89 points (41 goals, 48 assists), but 1,136 penalty minutes in 359 career games in the league.

So, you might wonder, why did the Kings bother trading for him in the first place?

Good question. “Car Bomb” turned out to be a real dud.
