Kings recall seven from Manchester of AHL, including goalie Patrik Bartosak

The Kings recalled seven players from their American Hockey League team in Manchester, N.H., on Wednesday, including young goaltending prospect Patrik Bartosak. He played only four games for Manchester after he was recalled from Red Deer (Alberta) of the Western Hockey League. But he was 3-1-0 with a 1.75 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage for Manchester.

Also recalled were: Forwards Andy Andreoff, Scott Sabourin, Nick Shore and Jordan Weal plus defensemen Derek Forbort and Colin MIller.

Kings assign goaltending prospect Patrik Bartosak to Manchester of the AHL

The Kings on Saturday assigned 20-year-old goaltender Patrik Bartosak to their American Hockey League affiliate in Manchester, N.H. Bartosak was 33-26-5 with a 2.80 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage plus eight shutouts in 65 games with Red Deer (Alberta) of the junior-level Western Hockey League. Bartosak was tied for fourth in the WHL in wins and tied for first in shutouts.

Bartosak turns 21 on March 29. He was the Kings’ fifth-round pick (146th overall) in last year’s draft. The Kings signed him to a three-year entry-level contract March 5. He was named the top goalie in all of Canadian junior hockey and was picked the WHL’s first-team all-star team.

Kings return eight to their junior teams in the first round of training camp cuts

The Kings trimmed their training camp roster to 49 from 57 on Monday, returning eight players to their junior-level teams. They are: RW Justin Auger (to Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League), C Mathew Campagna (Sudbury of the OHL), G Patrik Bartosak (Red Deer of the Western Hockey League), D Nick Ebert (Windsor of the OHL), LW Dominik Kubalik (Sudbury of the OHL), D Zachary Leslie (Guelph of the OHL), D Kurtis MacDermid (Owen Sound of the OHL) and D Marcus McIvor (Brampton of the OHL).

Kings prospect watch: goalie Patrik Bartosak

Having played last season for Brent Sutter at junior-level Red Deer (Alberta) of the Western Hockey League, Patrik Bartosak knows how to decipher Sutter speak. When Kings coach Darryl Sutter issued commands at the first day of training camp Thursday, Bartosak knew exactly what he was saying. Over the years, others have been hesitant to go first during a drill for fear of misunderstanding the low Sutter growl.
