Another Cook update

The Lakers and Brian Cook agreed on a three-year, $10.5 million contract extension just before the start of Tuesday’s game. Cook will have a player option for the third year.

Cook’s agent Mark Bartelstein had said there would be no deal earlier in the day but things changed at the last minute.

“Both sides made some changes right at the very end and we found a number we both could agree on,” Bartelstein said.

Cook signed the contract in the minutes before tipoff.

There are some who believe that the Lakers shouldn’t keep Brian Cook except for trade bait purposes, but it is obvious to me at least that Cook is a key piece.
His knowledge of the triangle combined with his easy going personality ensures the Lakers a talented big player, and extends both their depth and versatility in an unparalleled fashion. There is no other team in the L that has this combination of players, and Cookie is a key piece in the mosaic.
