Depth chart
Sure, there could be a few minor changes before training camp starts Sept. 30, but as of today the Lakers' depth chart looks a little like this:
Point guards -- Derek Fisher, Jordan Farmar, Sun Yue.
Shooting guards -- Kobe Bryant, Sasha Vujacic, Coby Karl, Dwayne Mitchell.
Centers -- Andrew Bynum, Chris Mihm.
Power forwards -- Pau Gasol, Luke Walton, Jason Powell.
Small forwards -- Lamar Odom, Vladimir Radmanovic, Trevor Ariza.
The rotation could feature a good deal of mixing and matching, what with Bryant possibly moving to a forward spot and Odom dropping into the backcourt to play point forward. Gasol also could move from power forward to center as Bynum's backup, with Odom taking Gasol's spot.
There are myriad combinations for Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who was somewhat limited last season after Bynum was injured in mid-January. Suffice to say, there figures to be a different starting five from the group that started at the end of the season and during the playoffs (Fisher, Bryant, Gasol, Odom and Radmanovic).
Elliot - only in your wildest dreams would Luke Walton be considered a power forward. He's a small forward and the Lakers are stacked there, as they are at shooting guard.
just start D Fish,Kobe,Odom,Gasol,and Bynum dont put kobe at the 3 he would be more injury-prone with having to guard bigger more physical players like stephan jackson,tayshaun prince,and lebron james on a more consistent basis
Bryant is not going to play in a forward spot you idiot. And Odom is too old and stupid to play point forward. You are full of idiotic ideas
Sorry, I gotta go with Elliott on this one. There has been a lot of talk around Lakers camp this offseason about using Lamar as a point-forward and sliding Kobe into a small forward role at times.
One thing is for sure, if everyone stays healthy, Phil Jackson will have a lot of mixing and matching to do.
