Report: Lamar called Dr. Buss Thursday

Our good friend Jim Hill over at KCBS is reporting that Lamar Odom personally called Lakers’ owner Dr. Jerry Buss Thursday to try and rebuild any bridges damaged by Odom’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, during contract negotiations.

Dr. Buss pulled his last offer to Odom off the table earlier this week after Schwartz didn’t respond back. Looks like Lamar might be taking charge of the negotiations, or at least trying to bring Dr. Buss and the Lakers back to the table.

Stay tuned.

I think Lamar should dump his agent and beg Dr. Buss to put the offers back on the table.

The Lakers are playing with fire! They know that there is not another player in the NBA that is close to doing what Lamar Odom can do. Pay the Man!!! He’s worth every dollar!!! The pieces on the Lakers work because of the talent there. Without Odom, Put’s Kobe back in the mode of doing it all by himself!!! The Lakers don’t need that !, The city doesn’t need that! Neither does Kobe and Lamar Odom need that. Pay the man what he’s asking!!! If he doesn’t perform to the level expected, then note in the contract to forefit a percentage of his salary. Like with any other job! You perform well and create profit, you gain! You don’t come to work or perform less than expected, you lose something!!! Pay the man! The Lakers would not have won a Championship without him….

Buss uses agents like toilet paper. First David Lee. Now Schwartz. NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN THE TEAM.

That’s B.S.!! Pay L.O. what he wants because he’s worth every penny?? Yeah right!! “If he doesn’t perform to the level expected, then note in the contract to forefit a percentage of his salary. Like with any other job! You perform well and create profit, you gain! You don’t come to work or perform less than expected, you lose something!!! Pay the man! The Lakers would not have won a Championship without him” What have you been smoking?? Like the players bargaining agreement and the players union will allow that kind of contract!! Get real dude!!If you knew what you were going to get out of LO every night then I say yeah. But he’s so inconsistent!! Yeah he had a good finals series, but the Lakers can win it without LO. Kobe will still have Pau, Bynum and now Artest. If LO thinks that 4 yrs at 36 million or 3 yrs at 30 million is not enough then get the hell out of L.A. and see if you can get more elsewhere!! LO is good but he’s a fool if he thinks he can strong arm Buss!! So either take the offer or don’t let the door hit you on the way out!!

i like odom. nice guy. i want the lakers to keep him… buss is smart not to overpay. while odom had some great games in the playoffs, he was snoozing on and off during most of the season. if odom was on the ball everynight like kobe, lakers wouldve won more games and wouldnt have struggled against the rockets in the playoffs

What’s wrong with giving him a 5-year deal? This guy already said openly that he would love to end his career as a Laker. Luke got his 5 years, so did Mihm. Lamar is better than both and he already took a pay cut from his $14 mil.

Lakers should not be looking to use him and dump him after a few years. Everyone knows the Lakers could not have done without Lamar. It will be hard to make it back to the finals if he leaves.

Why is it that something that seems so rational makes everyone so irrational. If LO leaves LA he has chosen a miserable 3,4 or 5 year end to his career. If he stays, he has chosen love and affection and understanding and respect and most important, victory.
