Warriors 95, Lakers 87

OAKLAND — The Lakers’ loss tonight to the Golden State Warriors coupled with the San Antonio Spurs’ victory over the Sacramento Kings means the Spurs and not the Lakers will be the No. 1 seeded team in the Western Conference when the playoffs begin. The Lakers’ margin was slim, but they lost all hope with their third consecutive defeat. After the Lakers fell behind with a disastrous second quarter, Lakers coach Phil Jackson decided it was time to rest some of his starters. Pau Gasol, who has a bone bruise in his right knee, played only 27 minutes and scored 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting, for instance. Kobe Bryant played a little less than 32 minutes and scored 25 points, for another example.
