Barnes suspended 1 game

Matt Barnes received a one-game suspension without pay from the NBA today for what the league said was "escalating an on-court altercation and actions following his ejection." Barnes will be barred from tonight's game against the Utah Jazz. The league did not impose further discipline on Jason Terry of the Dallas Mavericks, whose two-handed shove sent Lakers guard Steve Blake to the court and touched off a ruckus with 9 minutes, 23 seconds remaining in Friday's blowout victory. Terry received a flagrant-2 foul. Blake also was not suspended for confronting Terry after the shove.

Barnes via Twitter: "I get an extra day of rest for my knee. Ill be watching the game 2nite w/the rest of the laker fans, on tv. All good team will keep it Rolln 2nite vs the Jazz.. Ill be bak sunday.. Appreciate the support from all the lakeshow fans.. RESPECT!!"

Coach Phil Jackson wasn't surprised, but he also wasn't pleased, saying: "He's definitely going to have to check that stuff at the door when it comes to the playoffs. We don't want to play shorthanded in the playoffs, and third party in (a confrontation) is not a way to step things in the right direction. They're going to get you almost every single time."
