Will Dwight Howard make his Lakers debut on Sunday?

When will Dwight Howard finally put on a Lakers uniform?

That could happen on Sunday when the Lakers host the Sacramento Kings in a preseason game on Sunday at Staples Center, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.

But the Lakers declined to comment on whether or not that scenario will unfold.

Howard was cleared last week to play full-court five-on-five drills with contact. The Lakers center has also worked frequently with Lakers assistant coaches Darvin Ham and Chuck Person after practices and before games. Although Howard has reported no pain in his back after having surgery in April to treat a herniated disk, he stressed the need to enhance his conditioning.

“I don’t want to go out there fatigued and injure something else, because most of the time that’s when you have injuries,” Howard told reporters after Thursday’s practice.”I don’t want to take a step back. I’ve come too far from where I was

The Lakers have penciled him out for Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The Lakers have four preseason games remaining before their season opener Oct. 30 against the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center. After Friday’s game, the Lakers play the Kings Sunday at Staples Center, the Clippers Oct. 24 at Staples Center and the Kings Oct. 25 in San Diego.
