Lakers waive Ronnie Aguilar, Reeves Nelson

The Lakers made the first round of cuts to their training camp roster by trimming their frontline.

The team announced it has waived former Cal State Dominguez Hills product Ronnie Aguilar and former UCLA standout Reeves Nelson. With the cuts, the Lakers currently have 18 players on their training camp roster. The move could also pave way for the possible return of Dwight Howard. He could receive medical clearance following Saturday’s practice to appear in the Lakers preseason game Sunday against the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center.

The Lakers have 13 players with guaranteed contracts. NBA teams are allowed to field a maximum of 15 players on their roster, though they can only dress 12 of them.
