SALT LAKE CITY, UT. — As he’s nursing a minor fracture in his left leg, Lakers guard Steve Nash traveled with the team for its game tonight at Utah.

The Lakers still plan to reassess Nash’s recovery timetable on Saturday, but Coach Mike Brown said he traveled so he’d have close access to the team’s training staff.

“They’re going to evaluate him daily,” Brown said. “His prognosis could change at any time.”

Nash suffered the original injury, a lower contusion in his left leg, in the Lakers’ loss last week to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers originally thought Nash had a bruised shin, but an MRI on Saturday revealed he had a non-displaced fracture in the head of Nash’s fibula.

Nash has averaged only 4.5 points on 33 percent shooting and four assists in 25 minutes per contest through two games,

“It’s tough,” Brown said. “He’s dealing with it great because he’s a pro and he knows he has to go through the process. It’s tough and frustrating.”

Brown then tried to lighten the mood.

“He feels like the fans do, about our offense I guess,” he said.
