Steve Blake to miss Mondays’ practice due to lower abdominal strain

After worsening a lower abdominal strain that he has said lingered beforehand, Lakers guard Steve Blake will miss Monday’s practice.

He will then receive an ultrasound on Tuesday so he knows whether he can suit up when the Lakers (3-4) host the San Antonio Spurs (6-1) the same day at Staples Center.

“It’s something I’ve been dealing with for a few games now,” said Blake, who posted only two points on 1 of 2 shooting and four assists in 14 minutes.

Blake couldn’t play through it in the Lakers’ 103-90 victory Sunday over the Sacramento Kings. The injury worsened midway through the first quarter, prompting Blake to leave the floor with 5:19 left in the period. After appearing in the first two minutes of the third quarter, Blake sat out the rest of the game.

Did his injury improve at all when sitting out?

“No, it pretty much felt the same,” Blake said. “Extremely painful.”
