The Lakers will hold an introductory press conference for new coach Mike D’Antoni following his first team practice.
The team has penciled that in for 2 p.m., but that time still remains tentative since it hinges on how long practice lasts.
Still, it remains unclear when D’Antoni will coach his first game. He has told reporters he hopes to start Sunday when the Lakers host the Houston Rockets. But Lakers spokesman John Black said that decision isn’t binding. It all depends on his comfort level both with his health (he had knee replacement surgery in November) and his overall comfort level with the team.
If necessary, Bernie Bickerstaff will stay as interim coach until D’Antoni is ready.
