Kobe Bryant receiving treatment for back spasms

WASHINGTON — The instant he sat on the press conference table, Kobe Bryant apologized.

The reasons went beyond the Lakers’ 116-107 loss Thursday to the New York Knicks. He had also kept the media waiting an hour after the game ended.

“Sorry I came late,” he said. “But as you you know, when you get older, it takes you a lot longer to recover.”

Part of that recovery entailed getting treatment for back spasms. According to his Facebook page, Bryant’s continued that treatment leading into tonight’s game against the Washington Wizards.

“I’ve had a hard time walking but with treatment I’ve been able to play,” Bryant wrote. “In DC now. I’m getting more treatment on my back to make sure it’s ready to go for tonight.”

Against New York, Bryant wore a heating pad on his back during timeouts and when he rested.
