Phil Jackson never had a chance to bring the Lakers another championship ring.

But the 11-time NBA champion recently gave a ring to his longtime companion, Jeanie Buss, the Lakers executive vice president of business operations.

“Twitter family – Phil finally gave me that ring I wanted! ” Buss tweeted Thursday evening.

Jackson gave Buss and the Lakers five NBA championships. But this ring featured a diamond that Buss displayed in a photo.

Jackson, 67, and Buss, 51, have dated since 1999, but had often downplayed the necessity to get married. They have lived together in Playa del Rey, a beach town near the Lakers’ headquarters in El Segundo.
