Kobe Bryant joins Twitter

After expressing some skepticism on whether he wanted to join the popular social media network, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant finally made a Twitter account.

“The antisocial has become social #mambatweets” Bryant tweeted this morning.

A source close to Bryant confirmed that the account was real. Although Twitter verifies such accounts, an imposter made a fake Bryant account last summer and still earned such verification status.

Bryant had tweeted on @nikebasketball’s handle from Dec. 25 to 27, posting pictures of his family, promoting his Nike shoes and providing state of the team analysis in 140 characters or less. Although Bryant described the process as “cool and fun,” he still remained unsure whether he wanted to make his own account.

“Maybe,” he said on Dec. 30. “The one thing about me is when I’m doing it, I enjoy doing it myself and putting the time into it. I don’t know if I have the time available to give the fans the attention they deserve.”

Apparently, the Lakers star does.
