Jordan Hill to miss rest of season because of hip injury

Any hope for the Lakers eventually to field a fully healthy roster just evaporated.

Lakers reserve forward Jordan Hill will miss the rest of the season because of a hip injury that team doctors have advised will require surgery.

Although the Lakers expect Hill to seek a second opinion before having surgery, an arthrogram test he had on Friday showed he has loose fragments and a possible labral tear.

Hill, who resigned with the Lakers this offseason to a two-year, $7 million deal, became a consistent source of energy off the bench. He averaged 6.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in 15.8 minutes through 29 games.
