Jerry Buss’ memorial Thursday feature plenty of speakers

The Lakers will honor the late owner Dr. Jerry Buss with a private memorial Thursday scheduled for 3 p.m. at Nokia Theatre with an extensive list of expected speakers.

CBS2’s Jim Hill with be the MC. The other expected speakers are as follows: Timothy Leiweke, President and CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group, Johnny Buss, Frank Mariani (Dr. Buss’ long-time business partner), NBA Commissioner David Stern, former Lakers executive Jerry West, former Lakers center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, former Lakers coach Phil Jackson, former Lakers center Shaquille O’Neal, Lakers forward Pau Gasol (who will speak only in Spanish), former Lakers coach Pat Riley, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and former Lakers guard Magic Johnson.

The memorial will also have expected musical performances from Randy Newman, Davis Gaines and the USC band. The event is closed to the public, but will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.
